Five Year Strategy

Investing in Community-Responding to Changing Landscapes

In 2005 it was decided to develop a new plan for the Network to ensure that the work of the Network remains relevant to the community in the North West Inner City Network.

The brief for the development of this Strategic Plan, as outlined by the Steering Committee of the Network had the following key objectives:

  • To analyse and profile the area within which the Network is operating.
  • To identify and analyse the impact of planned developments in the area.
  • To identify and analyse the needs, existing and potential, of key target      groups within the area.
  • To undertake a stakeholder analysis with a view to identifying the key      strengths, capacities and limitations of the organisation, both at      structural level and at service delivery level.
  • To assess developments in the wider community and voluntary sector.
  • To undertake a collective analysis of the information collated.
  • To use that information to inform and guide the development of an
agreed Strategic Plan of Action for implementation, monitoring and
         review of the organisation.

This plan was completed in early 2006 and was launched by Vincent Browne in May 2006. A full download of the plan may be acquired on the Publications section of the website.

This strategic plan identified seven 'Priority Goals' for the Network to implement and the network has developed annual actions to be undertaken within this framework. These 7 Goals are:

1. Participation
2. Policy & Practice
3. Issue-Based Projects
4. Grangegorman
5. Communication
6. Network as an Organisation
7. Premises

One of the key roles of the Network is to promote social inclusion, therefore all the actions of this plan will be targeted at those experiencing poverty, inequality or exclusion of any nature, including:

- Drug Users and their families
- People with Disabilities
- Early School Leavers
- Non- Irish Nationals
- Low Income Families
- Older persons
- Lone Parents
- Unemployed
- People experiencing homelessness

As the experiences of marginalisation continue to be a day today reality for many of the most vulnerable within the community of the North West Inner City, there is an ongoing need to target these groups to ensure they remain in focus. The Network has a role in facilitating issues being placed on the agenda and continuing to highlight issues to ensure target beneficiaries are reached.
